1. Who we are

2. These terms
These terms apply to every order placed on cartouchemaps.com. By placing an order you accept them. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the rights that mandatory consumer law gives you.
3. Products
We sell historical map prints, unframed or framed, printed to order. We describe and show every product as accurately as we can; colours on screen can differ slightly from the printed paper. Room photographs on the site are illustrative and AI-generated; the print shown in them is our real map, and the flat images and close-ups show the print as it is made.
4. Orders and contract
The contract is formed when you complete checkout and receive our order confirmation by email. We may refuse or cancel an order in exceptional cases, such as an obvious pricing error or a delivery address we cannot serve; we then refund you in full.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in the currency of the store you use. In the European store they include VAT; in the US store, sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is made at checkout through our payment provider.
6. Printing and delivery
Orders are printed and shipped by our production partner Gelato from a facility near the delivery address. Production usually takes 2–5 business days, after which the carrier delivers; the estimate for your address is shown at checkout. See our shipping policy. The risk of loss passes to you on delivery.
7. Right of withdrawal and returns
You may withdraw from your purchase within 14 days after receiving it, as set out in our returns & refunds policy, which also covers replacements for damaged or misprinted items.
8. Conformity
We guarantee that the products conform to the contract and to their description on the site. If a product is defective, contact us; you keep all rights that mandatory consumer law gives you.
9. Liability
Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned, except where the law does not allow such a limit, for example in case of intent or gross negligence. Our maps are decorative historical reconstructions drawn from research data; they are not for navigation.
10. Intellectual property
The map designs, images and texts on this site are ours or used under licence. Buying a print gives you the print, not the right to reproduce the design. The underlying datasets keep their own licences, credited on each product page and on The Data.
11. Complaints
Email info@cartouchemaps.com with your order number. We confirm receipt and aim to resolve every complaint within 14 days.
12. Applicable law
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may bring a dispute before the competent court in the Netherlands or in your own country.
